Neroli: The Citrusy Touch of Perfumery

There are raw materials that cross centuries with the same delicacy with which they emerge in nature. Neroli is one of them. Extracted from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium), neroli enchants with its fresh, citrusy, and sophisticated fragrance — a noble ingredient with a distinguished past and a vibrant presence in contemporary perfumery.

Obtained through steam distillation of the bitter orange’s white flowers, neroli requires a careful and artisanal production process. The flowers are handpicked, usually in the early hours of the day when their aroma is at its peak. Unlike orange blossom absolute, which is extracted using solvents, neroli reveals a lighter and sparkling scent, with green touches and an unmistakable freshness.

Its name has a charming origin. In the 17th century, the Italian princess Anne-Marie de La Trémoille, also known as the Princess of Nerola, perfumed her clothes, gloves, and baths with this aromatic oil. The scent spread through European courts, becoming a symbol of elegance and earning the name neroli in honor of the princess.

Few ingredients unite floral sweetness and citrus vibrancy with such harmony. This duality makes neroli a protagonist in fragrances that overflow with lightness, sophistication, and well-being. It is no coincidence that it is also valued in aromatherapy, known for its calming and invigorating properties.

Among all the flowers and essences in the world, it was neroli that we chose to name one of our most emblematic fragrances. Radiant Neroli is a tribute to the natural sophistication of this unique raw material. With neroli cultivated under the Mediterranean sun, our creation translates light, freshness, and elegance into perfume form. A citrus fragrance, yet profound. Radiant, yet serene. One of the favorites of those discovering Felisa.
